Tax Manager – Manufacturing & Distribtuion

Our client, a globally recognized manufacturing and distribution company with operations across multiple markets, has engaged us to identify a Tax Manager to join their tax department and work directly with the company’s Tax Director. This leadership opportunity offers broad exposure and meaningful impact within a well-established organization known for excellence in its industry. The compensation package includes a highly competitive base salary, discretionary bonus opportunity, and a flexible hybrid schedule consisting of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote each week.

The Tax Manager will play a key role in overseeing the company’s tax compliance, reporting, and planning functions. Partnering closely with the Tax Director, this individual will help ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax requirements while proactively identifying opportunities to mitigate tax risk and optimize tax positions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

Tax Compliance & Reporting:

  • Manage preparation and review of federal, state and local income and franchise tax returns and ensure timely filings of the related returns
  • Oversee indirect tax filings (example- sales/use and property tax returns)
  • Ensure timely calculations of estimates and extensions and coordinate timely filings with federal and state tax authorities
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and assess impacts on the organization

International:

  • Monitor accuracy and completion of international tax returns required for local tax jurisdictions
  • Manage and review global transfer pricing calculations for intercompany transactions, including services, royalties and tangible goods
  • Coordinate preparation of Transfer Pricing studies with advisors and maintain documentation

Provision and Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and/or review income tax provision calculations in accordance with ASC 740
  • Support quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements
  • Coordinate with accounting and fiancé teams to ensure accurate tax-related disclosures

Tax Planning & Strategy

  • Assist the Tax Director with tax planning initiatives and structuring opportunities
  • Analyze transactions and business initiatives for tax implications
  • Support audit defense strategies and manage tax audits and inquiries

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Supervise and mentor senior tax accountant
  • Coordinate work performed by external tax advisors and consultants
  • Partner with internal departments (Finance, Legal, Payroll, Operations) on tax-related matters

Process Improvements & Controls

  • Improve tax processes, documentation and internal controls
  • Support automation and efficiency initiatives within tax function
  • Maintain strong documentation to support tax positions and compliance

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of U.S federal and state taxation (international tax experience a plus). Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with senior leadership
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA highly desirable
  • Ideally 6 years of progressive tax experience, including public accounting and corporate tax department
  • Experience with income tax provisions and sales & use tax filings
  • Consolidation experience as it pertains to tax positions and reporting.
  • Experience with SAP or large ERP system.
